Satisfying Increasing Performance Requirements With Caching at the Application Level

چکیده

Application-level caching is a form of that has been increasingly adopted to satisfy performance and throughput requirements. The key idea store the results computation, improve by reusing instead recomputing those results. However, despite its provided gains, this imposes new design, implementation maintenance challenges. In article, we provide an overview application-level caching, highlighting benefits as well challenges issues adopt it. We introduce three kinds existing support have proposed, giving broad view research in area. Finally, present important open remain unaddressed, hoping inspire future work on addressing them.

Application-level caching with transactional consistency

Distributed in-memory application data caches like memcached are a popular solution for scaling database-driven web sites. ese systems increase performance signi cantly by reducing load on both the database and application servers. Unfortunately, such caches present two challenges for application developers. First, they cannot ensure that the application sees a consistent view of the data withi...

Application-Level Document Caching in the Internet

With the increasing demand for document transfer services such as the World Wide Web comes a need for better resource management to reduce the latency of documents in these systems. To address this need, we analyze the potential for document caching at the application level in document transfer services. We have collected traces of actual executions of Mosaic, re ecting over half a million user...

Performance of Block-level Storage Caching

Block-level storage systems are commonly used due to their flexibility and versatility. Current technologies such as Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies over IP offer users the capability to consolidate and manage storage resources efficiently. However, scalability issues may arise under the load of many clients. A potential solution for this problem can be local disk caching. A blocklevel ...
